B18.5 Carriage Gr2 5 8 Round Head Square Neck Bolts

Specification

Carriage bolts (round head with a square neck) are commonly used in wood connections. The square neck under the round head will seat into the hole in the wood to prevent the head from turning. Because they are used with wood, carriage bolts are rarely high strength and virtually always supplied in a standard ASTM A307 specification.

Manufacturing

QBH Bolt manufactures carriage bolts from 1/2″ diameter through 1-1/4″ diameter in most ASTM and SAE specifications. Special tooling can be created to produce nonstandard head dimensions, carriage bolts larger than 1″ in diameter, or bolt heads with your company’s name and/or logo.

Made from Grade 5 steel, these bolts are suitable for fastening most machinery and equipment. A square neck keeps them from turning when tightening a nut. A smooth, rounded head provides a finished look. Grade 5 steel bolts are marked with three radial lines. Material meets SAE J429 specifications for quality. Dimensions meet ASME B18.5 specifications. Length is measured from under the head.

Black-oxide steel screws are mildly corrosion resistant in dry environments. Zinc-plated steel screws resist corrosion in wet environments. Zinc-aluminum-coated steel screws are 40 times as corrosion resistant as zinc-plated screws and comparable to Magni-coated screws.
